Local Info

Welcome to Salem Oregon! Salem is wonderfully located in the heart of the Willamette Valley just an hour east of the Pacific Ocean beaches and an hour west of the majestic Cascade Mountains. Salem is known for its comfortably mild winter climate and relaxing dry summer days. Salem has many exciting events and festivals throughout the year to enjoy including some of the best wine in the world.

Salem is the Capitol of Oregon and was incorporated in 1857. As of 2008 Salem had 154,510 people within its city limits. Salem sits 45 miles South of Portland and 60 miles North of Eugene. The city of Keizer hugs Salem to the North making the metropolitan area feel much larger. Many smaller towns and communities lie just outside of Salem contributing to the vast diversity of the area.

Some of the entertainment and recreation options within our community include The Oregon Garden, Riverfront Park, Silver Falls State Park, Salem Kroc Community Center, A.C. Gilbert Discovery Village, Enchanted Forest Theme Park, Volcanoes Minor League Baseball, the Art Festival, Tulip Festival, and some of the best Salmon and Steelhead fishing in the Northwest.

Our housing market has remained relatively stable compared to the rest of the country. Our local market has seen a healthy correction in prices since 2005, but has weathered the storm fairly well still offering many affordable options for homebuyers.

Don’t wait any longer to experience what Salem and the mid Willamette Valley have to offer! Opportunities wait for those who see potential in our area and the people who make this town the city of Peace.
